National Umbrella Day
According to Happy Days 365, “the creator or inventor of National Umbrella Day is still unknown. From the 18th century, umbrellas were a favourite fashion accessory for women. In the 19th century, it became a household item”.
In Cochrane’s Historic Downtown ( HDC), we have another way to celebrate National Umbrella Day. Do you know that there are free umbrellas in HDC to use for rain or shine? It is part of the HDC “We’ve Got you Covered” Program. Throughout HDC, merchants have beautiful umbrellas that you can pick up and drop off at various locations! Not only are they windproof and provide protection, but they are also fun to take photos with friends, landmarks and public art!
They may not be outside at this time of the year, but you can certainly ask any of the HDC businesses if you would like to take one for a stroll. They can be found at Heavenly Outhouse, Texas Gate, Styles Between Us, Schooners on First, Pure Anada and The Cochrane Information Centre.
