National Banana Bread Day
February 23

According to punchbowl, National Banana Bread Day is the day to celebrate “this delicious baked good, which is classified as a “quick bread” or “tea cake.” The first cookbooks that mentioned banana bread were published during the Great Depression. Culinary historians believe that a resourceful housewife who did not want to throw away over-ripe bananas may have invented the original recipe. Today there are many variations on this classic!”
One of these variations can be found at The Gentry Espresso & Wine Bar, offering a house-made Banana Walnut Bread. If you haven’t had the opportunity to try their amazing made from scratch baking, stop by and order a piece to go with one of their specialty coffees.
Take the opportunity to support our local coffeehouse by celebrating with them on National Banana Bread Day!
